This paper understands the development history and current situation of nanoindentation technology (also known as depth sensitive indentation technology), and analyzes the principle of nanoindentation technology, and points out the nanoindentation technology in materials. The practical application in science puts forward the promotion effect of nanoindentation technology on the development of materials science and some problems in it. Finally, it discusses and explores how the material science can develop in the future under the influence of nanoindentation technology. It is hoped that it will further contribute to the development and application of nanoindentation technology and materials science, thereby further promoting the development and progress of society.
